Background editor is led by Ahmad Al-Dahle, Meta's lead for Artificial Intelligence that is generative. In a blog post in Threads, Al-Dahle stated that the program allows users to make modifications to their story backgrounds which will open up new and creative possibilities.

"With backdrop, it is possible to alter the background of your photo with two taps and an option like 'chasing dinosaurs' or surrounded by puppies to create a completely new picture to use in your Story. Click the button to create a background at the top of your new Story, begin with a backdrop,'" The author, Al-Dahle. Users can also create their prompts.

You can now try this with the Instagram "Try It" stickers

After being posted to stories, the AI-generated backgrounds will have the "Try this" sticker, so that others can try the same prompts for text on their photos.

This launch is a continuation of Instagram's expanding collection of AI products, which include the ability to create creative images that are already available on Snapchat as well as other Meta platforms such as Messenger as well as WhatsApp. In the last month, Meta rolled out a similar AI image maker known as Imagine and Snapchat introduced paid features that allow users to create photos with a fantasy theme.
