Intel's new Core Ultra chips are built specifically for the AI the future
Intel's Core Ultra marks the "Age of the AI PC", according to the company's global newsroom and social media channels.
December 16, 2023 08:39The announcement made across their social networks coincided with the company's "AI Everywhere" event today in New York.
Intel's Core Ultra processors
enter the marketplace
Intel Core Ultra processors,
code-named 'Meteor Lake', are the engine behind Intel's latest line made of AI
(AI)-focused PCs.
The key specs, such as the
"neural processing device" to handle a variety of AI tasks and the
new "Intel ARC Graphics" that will improve 3-D graphic performance
displayed at the event.
They are also the very first to
be built using Intel 4 Process Technology. The chips are built and housed
using different types of silicone and a packaging technique named
"Foveros".
Intel boasts they are the most
power-efficient processors Intel has ever created. It has two kinds of
battery-saving cores "P-Cores which are capable of tackling tasks with
high performance, and E-Cores, tackling routine tasks" according to
today's statement.
Intel Executive Vice General
Manager and President of Client Computing Group, Michelle Johnston Holthaus
spoke on the Intel website "The launch of Intel Core Ultra represents the
incredible scale and speed at which Intel is providing AI for the PC. By
2028, AI computers will make up 80 percent of the market for PCs."
Intel revealed its 14th
Generation Core series of desktop processors in October this year. Intel
both Apple and Apple have been battling it across 2023 as they both attempt
to offer the most powerful laptop processors, including the leak of Apple's M3
Max processor earlier this month.
AI has been a dominant area of
research throughout 2023. the 27 EU member states committing to the Artificial
Intelligence Act. It was the first global community to reach an agreement
on the ethics of governance in AI and its use across the EU.
